On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon, South Dakota Tourism brought their famous rock legends to Denver Day of Rock. This is an annual music festival in Denver benefitting Amp the Cause, a local charity helping kids. Not only did we provide a beautiful backdrop with our one-third scale replica of Mount Rushmore, but the Presidential mascots dressed in their best rock ‘n’ roll attire and posed for pictures with festivalgoers.
We cooled off the crowd by serving over 2,000 scoops of ice cream brought in from Keystone, South Dakota. This is Thomas Jefferson’s original vanilla ice cream recipe and can only be found at Mount Rushmore. We gave away tons of band merchandise from t-shirts to backpacks and great Let’s Rock stickers.
Denver residents and guests took photo after photo with the mascots and at the mountain throughout the day and well into the evening. It was a great day to bring South Dakota’s rock- and-roll legends to Denver’s Day of Rock. Rock on!
